Music

Students at the Lower School participate in weekly music classes from 1st - 5th grade. Younger classes, including preschool, learn worship songs, rhythm instruments, boomwhackers, and music games. Third & fourth grades learn music theory and how to play flutophones.  Fifth grade continues work on music theory while also learning about composers. All grades work during the fall semester to present the Lower School Christmas Musical in December.

Physical Education

In our Physical Ed. program, the students not only receive physical exercise, but the importance of working as a team, respect of self and others, critical and creative thinking skills and developing coordination.

Our PreK3 and PreK4 classes also take part in our P.E. program where playing and exercise aid in their social development, physical strengthening and hand-eye coordination.

Quiz Bowl

Conway Christian Quiz Bowl has a legacy of excellence. Since the school began competition in 2008, we have won over 40 tournaments, including six state championships and one national championship.  Students who participate in Quiz Bowl master a variety of material from literature to sports to math to the arts. The success of the program is a testament to the well-rounded nature of the Conway Christian curriculum and breadth of extracurricular activities in which students are involved.

Students may begin participating in Quiz Bowl in 6th grade.  For more information about participating in the program, please contact: 6th grade Coach Beverly Howell (bhowell@conwaychristianschool.net)

Technology

We partner with Common Sense Media to help educate our students on digital literacy. For more information visit: http://www.commonsensemedia.org/

In addition to digital literacy and online safety, our students in the Lower School learn how to utilize several applications, including Google Apps, Pages, Keynote, and iMovie. Students participate and learn in our STEM Lab using iMacs and iPads.

Lower School Visual Arts

Conway Christian's Lower School visual arts program provides students the opportunity to express themselves through hands on media, being inspired through a Biblical perspective of creating and glorifying God through their ideas and talents. Art is offered K-6th on a weekly basis during activity period. Here students learn about the elements and principles of design, art history, and art criticism experiences that aid in inspiration for putting various techniques into practice. Students will explore different materials such as dry and wet media (painting, collage, pastels, graphite, pen and ink) and sculpture (clay, plaster, cardboard, found materials).

Many independent art opportunities will be advertised for students, such as community events and contests not associated with the school, as well as the school's annual art festival. Our goal is to provide students a foundation of learning about art and developing their own skills, with an understanding that the Lord is the ultimate creator and we are to enjoy and reflect Him in everything we do.

"He has made everything beautiful in it's time" Ecclesiastes 3:11

Jump Rope Team

Our team consists of 3rd-6th Graders. Try-outs are in September and practices continue through April. Performances are at Conway Christian School, UCA, CBC, Hendrix, Greenbrier High, St. Joe, Conway High and several Conway Elementary Schools. Our performance routine includes jumping rope while on pogo sticks, pogo balls, triple unders, back handsprings, walk-overs and using lighted jump ropes.

The team was started in 2013 in hopes to encourage kids to maintain a healthy lifestyle while using their God-given gifts to work together as a team to glorify Christ and share His light with our community.
