Conway Christian High School houses our 9th through 12th-grade and our Intermediate School houses 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students.  Our campus strives to help our students transition from the school experience as they prepare to leave and begin a life walking with Christ. Walk through the halls of Conway Christian and you will see that it is a dynamic and energetic place that inspires students to reach their full potential academically, artistically, and most importantly, spiritually.  Our goal is for our students to develop a passion and desire for learning, spiritual and personal growth; and to have a strong academic foundation that is biblically based. Each day includes a Bible class that helps to build on the foundation of the gospel that is woven through each academic discipline.

Our purpose is to lead children to Jesus Christ and disciple them according to the gifts and abilities God has given each one. We strive to find a balance between a challenging curriculum and a supportive environment that enriches the students emotionally, physically, and socially.  Our desire is that students are academically prepared for any situation the Lord might lead them into later in life.  Most importantly, we desire our students to love Jesus and walk with Him daily.

The curriculum has a proven record.  Right now, the ACT average is currently at 24, many points higher than the national average. Conway Christian is proud of our National Merit finalists and semi-finalists as well as the numerous students who have received various scholarship opportunities.

We are honored by your interest and look forward to showing you around. Feel free to contact Sherry Rowlett, Registrar, to schedule your tour for a closer look into the Conway Christian difference!

Conway Christian School partners with the University of Central Arkansas, Central Baptist College, and Ouachita Baptist University to offer concurrent credit coursework for qualified juniors and seniors, giving students the advantage of completing many of their general education requirements prior to college enrollment.

Benefits of Concurrent Credit over Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Guaranteed credit:  If students achieve a passing grade in a concurrent course, college credit is guaranteed. For AP courses, a student must achieve a certain score to receive credit. Therefore, it is possible for a student to do well in a course but not on the AP exam and receive no credit.

Curricular control:  Working within the parameters of the partner college’s syllabi, faculty can decide how to approach the course and which texts to include.  AP requires teachers to “teach to the test,” thus allowing College Board (which oversees AP testing) to control the curriculum in a class.

Curricular breadth:  Teachers are free to cover entire literary works and may assign appropriate essays to assess the material.  AP testing requires that teachers shorten works to excerpts and use multiple choice tests for assessment.  Concurrent credit students receive a broader and richer education in the subject rather than merely being prepared for an exam.

Appropriately educated faculty:  Concurrent credit law requires that concurrent credit teachers have master’s degrees and at least 18 graduate hours in the subject matter of the course taught.  Requirements for AP teachers typically are just attendance in an AP Summer Institute though some districts set further requirements. Concurrent credit faculty are actually qualified to be college instructors. The Conway Christian concurrent faculty are not only qualified to teach college, but also have actual college teaching experience.

Conway Christian Concurrent Facts
  • CCS offers 42 hours of concurrent credit courses.
  • Each class is taught by a master’s level  teacher with at least 18 graduate hours in the course taught.
  • CCS currently has five faculty members capable of teaching at the concurrent credit level.  Two of those teachers also serve as college adjunct instructors presently.
  • CCS can currently offer college level courses in English, philosophy, fine arts, math, and social sciences.
  • One of the benefits of concurrent credit is having a course taught by a faculty member who knows both the subject matter and is trained to deal with high school students
  • Most Christian schools are unable to offer concurrent credit courses due to faculty qualifying restrictions. Instead they rely on online college courses taught by college professors unfamiliar with high school students.
  • Concurrent courses are given extra grade point weighting in order to distinguish students who take on the extra workload and academic rigor of college-level coursework.

A worldview is the lens of ideas and values through which we see, evaluate and behave in all areas of life.  Our beliefs about the nature of man, the possibilities of knowledge, ethics, politics, science, and history all flow from our worldview.  It is the foundation of our belief system and embodies our most basic presuppositions about God and His relationship to man and nature.

A well-developed Christian worldview will affect literature, current events, math, and science.  At Conway Christian, we want our students to view the world through a Biblical lens, to be equipped to engage the world with scriptural discernment, and to make positive, Christian contributions to our world.

Biblical integration is fundamental to our commitment to teaching from a distinctly Christian worldview.  By integrating the truth and context of Scripture into all subject areas from the earliest grades onward, students are trained to always consider how the idea at hand, whether it be history, literature or science, aligns – or fails to align -  with the Word of God.  Biblical integration goes beyond the addition of a Bible class to the curriculum.  It requires the examination of all subjects in light of Biblical truth.

As Christians, we have a greater purpose in education than simply gathering knowledge.  The more we learn in every subject, the more we understand about our God and His work.  At Conway Christian, our ultimate goal is training each student to think about the world the way God does.
