Arts
The Fine Arts programs at Conway Christian School exist to glorify God through performance and creative expression. Through art, music, and drama, we assist the school in forming well-rounded Christians who are prepared for their life ministries. Our fine arts program is unique in its godly focus as well as the fact that over 90% of our student body participate in some aspect of the fine arts. Our students have been successful in competition with other schools, in obtaining fine arts scholarships, and in life due to their participation in fine arts. Our alumni attest that participation in fine arts at CCS, coupled with academics and sports training, has prepared them for the rigors of the college and work world.




The drama program at Conway Christian is distinctive in its inclusivity and focus. We exist to glorify God through performance, and in doing so, we have created a tradition of both excellence and openness that draws in nearly every member of the senior high student body.
During the spring play, students pool their talents of painting, construction, tech skills, costume design, music, and acting to transform our school gym into another world of the play. This whole school effort brings together athletes, choir members, and students who have no other activity into one cohesive group. Our cast and crew size runs from 80-90 students.
In addition to the spring play, Drama Club performs at school chapels and in the community. We also have collected winter clothing for children in need and food for food pantries and homeless shelters. A portion of our play proceeds go to a chosen charity each year. In the past, we have supported such local ministries as Soul Food Cafe, Compass Academy, and Life Choices. This focus on service keeps us grounded to our club’s motto “Not to us, but to your name, be the glory” from Psalm 115:1.

The mission of the Conway Christian School Choir/Band Program is to equip students through a Christ-centered curriculum in choral music and instrumental music and to encourage and equip each student to use their God-given abilities in service to Christ.

Choir
The Conway Christian Choir begins at the 6th grade level and continues through high school. For over 15 years, individual choir students have consistently ranked high enough for All-Region Choir and All-State Choir at both the Junior High and Senior High levels, and have received high ratings at our region's Solo and Ensemble festival. The choir has received many Division I (Superior) ratings at both in-state and out of state contests, assessments and festivals. The choir and band present a joint Fall Concert, Christmas Spectacular, Spring Concert and Dessert Night each year. They also perform at our Veteran's Day Assembly and graduation ceremony, and have been invited to perform at local events every year. Many former choir members attend colleges and universities on scholarship for vocal performance. Our students strive to become the best musicians they can be while most importantly focusing on using God-given talents to glorify Him and encourage others.

Band and Drum line
The Conway Christian Band programs begin at the 6th grade level and continue through high school. At the middle school level, students learn to play their instruments and perform in concerts both on their own and with the high school. At the high school level, the Screamin' Eagle Marching Band performs their halftime show at home and away games. Our band is small but mighty, and we support our football and basketball teams from the stands by playing loud and playing proud. Beginning in 2024, the high school band has earned high ratings at marching competitions and had students ranking high enough to participate in the Arkansas All-Star Band. Together with the choir, all band levels perform at our Fall Concert, Christmas Spectacular, Spring Concert and Dessert Night. Students learn to perform a wide variety of music, including marching and pep band, traditional wind ensemble, and jazz. Several former band students attend colleges and universities on scholarship for instrumental performance. Our students strive for discipline and musical excellence, learning to "leave no doubt" both on the field and on the stage.


Color Guard
The new Conway Christian Color Guard includes a flag line and features twirlers who perform on the field with the Screamin' Eagle Band. They perform dances with pom-poms to our stands tunes and cheer on the team during the game. At halftime, they march with the band, twirling flags and batons to visually accentuate the music. Our color guard begins in 9th grade and students are not required to take band as a class to participate.
Elementary School Music
Students at the Elementary School participate in weekly music classes from 1st - 5th grade. Younger classes learn worship songs, rhythm instruments, boomwhackers, and music games. Third & fourth grades learn music theory and how to play flutophones. Fifth grade continues work on music theory while also learning about composers. All grades work during the fall semester to present the Lower School Christmas Musical in December.
Elementary School Arts
Conway Christian's Lower School visual art program provides students the opportunity to express themselves through hands on media, being inspired through a Biblical perspective of creating and glorifying God through their ideas and talents. Art is offered Kindergarten thru 6th on a weekly basis during activity period. Here students learn about the elements and principles of design, art history, and art criticism experiences that aid in inspiration for putting various techniques into practice. Students will explore different materials such as dry and wet media (painting, collage, pastels, graphite, pen and ink) and sculpture (clay, plaster, cardboard, found materials). Many independent art opportunities will be advertised for students, such as community events and contests not associated with the school, as well as the school's annual art festival. Our goal is to provide students a foundation of learning about art and developing their own skills, with an understanding that the Lord is the ultimate creator and we are to enjoy and reflect Him in everything we do.

High School & Intermediate School Arts

The visual arts program for Conway Christian Upper School consists of a 9-week class for 7-8th grade, as well as a fine art elective offered for 9-12th grade. Students are initially assessed of their prior art knowledge at the beginning of the year — what art facts, ideas, or feelings they have towards the subject. Based on their current knowledge, our department aims at meeting student's skill set where they are currently, and no one student is held to the standard of another student's abilities. Art is taught as a unique form of expression meant to engage in content areas such as art history, art criticism, composition with the elements and principles of design — aiming at tying all ideas under the umbrella of a Biblical perspective. Media the students will use include wet and dry media (painting, pastels, pencil, pen and ink) as well as sculpture (clay, found materials, paper mache, etc.). Student work is exhibited in the halls on a regular basis. Students are given the opportunity to compete in art competitions throughout the community (Daffodil Daze, Art in Architecture, etc.) as well as through the school's annual Art Festival. At the end of the semester, students are also given an active voice in what projects they enjoyed and which projects they wish they had done differently. Our primary goal is to assist students in their artistic abilities as a means of creating that honors God amongst a secular art world that is seen in contemporary art today.
