Grandparent's Day Information and Dress Code; Lunch Order Deadline

Grandparent’s Day: This Friday, October 27, we invite all grandparents to join us for a very special time honoring them as we thank them for all they do and what they mean to us. The invitation, including start times and program schedule, is attached. School will be dismissed at noon this Friday, unless you check out early with a grandparent. Parents: please print, call or forward this invitation to the grandparents in your family who plan to attend Friday.
 
Grandparent’s Day Dress Code: 1st - 6th grade students should wear their red emblem polo and uniform shorts or pants for Grandparent’s Day this Friday. Upper school students will have a regular uniform day (no t-shirts or jeans).
 
All For Books Coin Challenge: In coordination with our fall Book Fair, our library is sponsoring the All for Books Coin Challenge for Lower School Students. Students are asked to donate loose change each day by filling the boots that are set up in their classroom. At the end of the week, their teacher will purchase books for the classroom that the students will love to read!
The class with the most coins raised will get additional recess time!
The coin type and days are as follows:
Thursday, Oct. 26 - Quarters
Friday, Oct. 27 - Any Coin Day
Monday, Oct. 30 - Dimes
Tuesday, Oct. 31 - Nickels
Wednesday, Nov. 1 - Pennies
Thursday, Nov. 2 - Any Coin Day
 
Football Volunteers Needed: If you can volunteer to help at this Thursday night’s football game, please sign up using this link.
 
Lunch Order Deadline: The deadline to order lunch for the weeks of October 30 - November 10 is the end of the day this Thursday, October 26. There are several field trips scheduled during the next few weeks, so please check with your child's teacher(s) before placing your lunch order.
 
Lunch Volunteers Needed: To volunteer to help serve during the month of November, please sign up using this link.
 
Picture Make-Up/Retake Day: Lifetouch Photography will be taking make-up or retake pictures tomorrowThursday, October 26. Students that were absent on picture day will need to have their picture taken. Please remember to fill out an order form and have your student bring it with them with payment. (If your child is having a retake picture made, please bring the original picture package to the session.)

Box Tops for Education; Volunteers Needed; Lunch Orders Due

CCS Spirit Week at Chick-Fil-A!: Come into Chick-fil-A Conway Commons and mention Conway Christian BEFORE you order for the school to receive a $1 credit per transaction. Come in as often as you want during the week and mention the school every time!

(Be sure and say you are with Conway Christian BEFORE you order. It will not count if you say it during or after the order has been placed.)

Box Tops for Education: Please send your box tops to school by Monday, October 16. Volunteers are needed to organize, cut and count box tops. If you would like to organize and clip box tops at home for service hours, please contact Felissa Scott at felissa.scott@gmail.com or 352-682-0729.

Concession Stand Volunteers Needed: We are in need of help in the concession stand this Friday night for Homecoming and next Friday night for Senior night. Please use the link below to sign up if you can help. Thank you!

Student Safety Concerns: For the safety of your children, please do not allow them to play under the bleachers at the football or volleyball games. They should also stay inside the fenced area at all times during the football game.

Vision Screening Reminder: Students in Kindergarten - 2nd grade, 4th, 6th and 8th grade will have vision screenings Monday, October 16th. Students should bring or wear their contacts or glasses for the screening.

Homecoming Spirit Week; Bowl-a-thon Dress; Lunch Orders Open

Spirit Week/October 9th - 13th: Homecoming 2017 at Conway Christian is Friday, October 13th! Spirit Week will be filled with exciting events and fun “dress-up” days for our students! Please see the lists below for events and dress-up themes for both the Upper and Lower schools. Students are encouraged to dress according to each day’s theme. Students not participating in the dress-up attire should wear their normal school uniform.
 
Upper School Spirit Week
  • Multiple Monday! (Dress alike with a group of friends!)
Monday Night: Powder Puff Game (9th/11th vs 10th/12th girls)
  • Character Day Tuesday (Dress as your favorite movie, TV, or book character)
Tuesday Night: Movie Night (7th - 12th grades)
  • Prep Day Wednesday (Dress up as preppy as you can)
  • Color Day Thursday (Each grade wears its own color!)
Seniors - Navy
Juniors - Red
Sophomores - Green
Freshman - Purple
Eighth - Orange
Seventh - Yellow
 
Thursday Night: BonFire Pep Rally!
  • Luau Friday (Dress like you are going to a luau and wear it to the game that night!)

Friday Night: Homecoming Queen Coronation, Football Game, 5th quarter Dance until 11:00PM (9th-12th grades only)

Lower School Spirit Week
  • Monday - Regular uniform day
  • Tuesday - Character Day: Dress as your favorite Disney character or superhero
  • Wednesday - Fancy Dress Up Day: Wear your fanciest dress or your most dapper tie (Please stay within dress code)
  • Thursday - Pastor Appreciation Day: Wear your red emblem chapel shirt
  • Friday - Luau Day: Dress in your best luau attire! Hawaiian shirts/shorts, flip-flops, grass skirts (with shorts/pants underneath), beach t-shirts and sunglasses! (No tank/halter tops or swimsuits)

Lower School Bowl-a-thon Dress: Lower School students may wear JEANS and a CCS t-shirt for tomorrow's Bowl-a-thon.

Tennis Tournament Results: Congratulations to the Conway Christian tennis team for sweeping all divisions in the district tournament! Caroline Henley & Katherine Huff won 1st place in girls doubles, McKenna Vaught won 1st place in singles, Allyson Oliver & Abby Austin took 4th place in doubles. In the boys' division, David Belvardi won 1st place in singles & Canyon Jenkins placed 2nd, and Winston Strawn & Jake DeBusk won 1st place in doubles.

In addition, CCS won the overall team championship in both the girls & boys divisions! Go Eagles!

PeeWee Basketball: PeeWee Basketball Sign-up for 3rd - 6th grade students is due today. If your child is interested in playing but you haven’t signed up, please do so by Friday, October 6th. There will be a parents meeting Monday, October 9th at 6:00pm in the Upper School Gym. If you have any questions please contact Coach Williams at jwilliams@conwaychristianschool.net or 501-336-9772.

Eagles Nest: New items have arrived! Come by the Lower School and check out the new sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets and hats we’ve added, or click on the Eagles Nest link and purchase everything you need. Items purchased online will be sent home with your child.
